Easter Weekend

We have been wondering lately whether we should drive north or south now that we have children and grandchildren within 6-7 hours in either direction. So, when Nan put out the invitation to Rachel's baptism for this past weekend, we were pleased to realize that some folks would be coming to us instead.

About an hour before the baptism Gavin discovered a mud puddle in the yard.

During a break between meetings, I took this picture of 2/3 of the computers in the house. There were three families staying here (Worthy & Gail; Drew & Eryka & Isaac & Stella & Joaquin; and Tim & Nancy & Gavin), and each adult had their own laptop. Throw in a Nintendo DS, ipods all around, and a Kindle here or there, and there was a lot of technology in our home. It served us very well to be able to watch General Conference live on Saturday and Sunday.

We printed off some General Conference activity booklets for the children to play and learn and pay attention during the meetings. Isaac, Stella, and Joaquin enjoyed playing Conference Bingo, and Match the Prophets and Apostles

We thank all who made some sacrifices to drive north or south to come visit on this special weekend! We hope everyone now realizes that Blanding is the center of the Glover family universe, and we expect to see more of everyone from now on!

BIG Snow

Yes, that is Dad's new snow blower sitting idle while he shovels manually. That's what is required when the county snow plow pushes huge mounds of ice and snow into the driveway which has already been cleared.

Believe it or not, you are looking at the front sidewalk of our house. Dad has been shoveling snow every day this week, and there is almost no place left to put the snow.

In case you can't tell, the snow is piled up almost as tall as he is. BTW the pictures are in color; it's our world that is black and white right now.

Cute Calls

Our house is very lively these days, since the cute Call family has been hanging out here.

Christmas was especially fun when we had the whole family together. Who knew Richie II was so domestic?

Unfortunately for their highly allergic dad, the Call children and their mother have bonded with our ever-patient cat, Maddy.

Every day is a new delight, and we are excited for the day when their husband and daddy will rejoin them. He seems to be getting close to settling everything in New Jersey and moving out west. Yay!

Can Somebody "Dog-sit" for Us?

Meet Ceyde, dad's Christmas present to me. Who else sees the irony in this? She is lovely and sweet, but probably needs to live at somebody else's home for about 10 days while we have houseguests from December 17 - 27th. Any volunteers?

Birthdays in September

What a wonderful month this is! Our lives have been blessed by the births of a bunch of special people. Earlier in the month, we celebrated Olivia Barton, Thomas Perkins and Worthington Winston Glover (WWG IV), and then on the 22nd, it was Andrew Earl Glover (Drew), a birthday which he shares with his Aunt Nancy Asay. We love you all! Today, Worthington William Glover Sr. (WWG II) is having his special day by golfing in Monticello with WWG III. Tomorrow, Worthy Sr. will continue celebrating by driving over the mountain to observe the beautiful fall colors -- a birthday tradition. Whitney's birthday is tomorrow, and the fun continues when Chrislynn has her special day on Monday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ALL! And then, happy anniversary to Britt and Nan on Wednesday, September 30th. Love, love, and happiness to everyone!

What Really Happened

For those who expressed concern for "Poor Worthy", we think we should explain a few things:

• His injury was worse than the pictures show. He completely tore his calf muscle. He heard it and felt it POP!
• The pictures are somewhat deceptive. Most of what appears in the photos are his strawberry birthmark which extends from toe to belly button.
• His dangerous golfing incident took place as he was climbing a steep hill to watch the trajectory of Worthy Jr.'s ball, so that they could find where it landed. Thus, WJr is not "totally innocent."
• He kept golfing all day for 2 more days, since he had paid to participate in the San Juan Amateur Golf Tournament with his oldest son.
• The one thing that he learned after the fact is that the first treatment after such an injury is to discontinue the activity that caused the injury.
• He consulted the internet to figure out what was causing his extreme pain and swelling and finally made a doctor's appointment. The doctor did not know what to do for him.
• After much pain and inability to function, he was finally persuaded to seek treatment from a physical therapist. Two weeks of physical therapy have finally enabled him to return to normal activity (not necessarily pain-free).
• He started golfing again last Friday.
